How it works

The Competitors Finder combines an AI with a verification step to produce a ranked list of your organic competitors. That two-step pipeline sets it apart from AI-only tools, which can invent names, and from SERP-overlap tools, which need existing rankings.

Step 1: AI candidates. We send your domain or page URL to a large language model and ask for 5 candidate competitor domains, plus a few extras to make up for the ones the filter will drop. The AI returns its picks in relevance order, its own judgement of how closely each one matches your site's focus.

Step 2: the reality check. Every candidate goes through our backlink index. A domain that is not in the link graph is dropped. The same lookup also returns Domain Authority, Page Rank, and Spam Score, so the surviving competitors get their metrics at no extra cost.

Step 3: traffic and keywords. The survivors are trimmed to your plan cap (5 on the Free plan) in the AI's relevance order. We then look up each one's Estimated Traffic and Total Keywords in our keyword index, all at once. A domain the index has no data for shows muted dashes.

Two modes.

  • Find Website Competitors: enter a domain, such as example.com, to get competing domains.
  • Find Page Competitors: enter a specific URL, such as example.com/pricing, to get competing pages. Use it to find head-to-head rivals for a money page rather than for the brand as a whole.

Default sort. Results start in the AI's relevance order, where rank 1 is the closest competitor. You can sort by any column. Sort by Estimated Traffic to find your biggest competitors by SEO scale. Sort by Domain Authority to find the hardest ones to outrank.

Plan caps. The Free plan returns 5 competitors per analysis. Your daily budget is 50,000 AI tokens, shared with every other AI tool on this site. Every plan, including Platinum, has a cap because each call costs us real money.

Known limitations.

  • Niche or very small competitors may not have enough presence in our link index to pass the check. They are dropped from the list even when they are relevant.
  • Brand-new domains, less than a few weeks old, may not be in our index yet. Even if the AI knows them, they get filtered out.
  • Page mode on a generic URL, such as a homepage, often returns the same set as Website mode. The page-level view is most useful for product, category, and pricing pages with their own competitive sets.
  • Big brands dominate. Well-known brands take slots in the AI's list, sometimes at the expense of small but direct competitors. Use Page mode on a non-homepage URL to widen the net.

What the columns mean

Rank
The AI's relevance order, where 1 is the closest competitor. It is the default sort. Sorting by another column hides this signal until you click Rank again. Read it as "the AI says these are your closest matches, in this order".
Competitor
The competitor's domain (Website mode) or URL (Page mode). Cross-link icons jump straight to the Website Ranking Checker, Backlink Checker, Website Traffic Checker, Top Pages Finder, Keyword Gap Analysis, or Backlink Gap Analyzer for that competitor.
DA (Domain Authority)
Moz's 0 to 100 prediction of how well the competitor's domain ranks in Google. It shows how much link building you would need to outrank them.
PR (Page Rank)
A 0 to 10 score based on Google's original PageRank idea, computed from the public link graph. A cross-check for DA. The two usually agree. When they disagree, the competitor did well in one model but not the other.
Spam
Moz's 0 to 100 Spam Score. A high value (60 and up) means the domain carries risk signals. Competing with it may be easier than its DA suggests, because it is a less stable target.
Estimated Traffic
Our estimate of the competitor's monthly organic-search visits. Use this column to rank competitors by SEO scale rather than by AI relevance.
Total Keywords
The number of distinct keywords the competitor ranks for in Google. A high count means a broad footprint and more topical authority to compete with.

How does this competitor finder work?

You give us your domain or page URL. We ask a large language model for 5 candidate competitors, plus a few extras as a buffer. We then check every name against our backlink index and drop any the AI made up, because the index only returns rows for real domains in the link graph. The survivors get Domain Authority, Page Rank, Spam Score, estimated organic traffic, and total ranking keywords. By default they are sorted in the AI's relevance order.

How do I find out who my competitors are?

For SEO competitors, this tool lists the domains an AI considers most similar to yours, based on what it knows about your site. It then verifies each one against a real link-graph database. The pairing matters. An AI on its own can name competitors that do not exist or do not rank for what you do. A link graph on its own lists every site that shares any backlink with yours, which is often noisy. Together they filter out both kinds of error.

How is this different from a SERP-overlap competitor tool?

SERP-overlap tools such as Semrush, Ahrefs, Moz, and SpyFu find competitors by checking which other sites rank for your top keywords. They work well when you already have rankings and poorly when you do not. Our approach starts from the AI's understanding of who you are: your industry, business model, and audience. It then verifies each candidate against the link graph. So it works even for a brand-new site with no rankings yet.

Why are some of my obvious competitors missing?

Two common reasons. First, a niche or very small competitor may not be in our backlink index. Even if the AI suggests it, the verification step drops it to keep the results trustworthy. Second, the AI favors well-known brands, so a small but direct competitor can lose its slot to a bigger nearby brand. The fix is to switch to URL mode and enter a specific competing page instead of your homepage. That usually brings up a different set of niche competitors.

What are the four types of competitors?

The classic marketing split has four types. Direct competitors sell the same thing to the same audience. Indirect competitors solve the same problem with a different product. Replacement competitors are the non-obvious alternatives a customer might pick instead, such as doing nothing or a free do-it-yourself workaround. Perceived competitors are anyone the customer mentally groups with you. This tool returns mostly direct and indirect organic competitors. Replacement and perceived competitors usually need market research, not search data.

How do I find my biggest competitors?

Run the tool, then sort the results by Estimated Traffic, highest first. The competitors at the top of that view win the most organic traffic in your space, which is a fair stand-in for "biggest" in SEO terms. From any row you can jump to the Top Pages Finder to see which pages drive that traffic, or to the Backlink Checker to see who links to them.

Are competitor lookups capped per day?

Yes. The Free plan returns 5 competitors per analysis, within a budget of 50,000 AI tokens a day shared by all our AI tools. Every call that costs money is metered: the AI request for the candidate list, the verification of each candidate, and the keyword and traffic lookups. That keeps our upstream costs predictable. Every plan, including Platinum, has a cap, and the cap-hit message tells you when to come back.

Can I trust the results if they're AI-generated?

Mostly yes, because the AI suggestions are checked against a real database before you see them. The AI writes the candidate list. Our backlink index returns rows only for domains that exist in the link graph, so invented names drop out on their own. The Domain Authority, Page Rank, Spam Score, traffic, and keyword counts do not come from the AI. They are measured from our index. Treat the ranked order as an informed suggestion and the per-row metrics as measurements.
