How it works
The SEO Analyzer fetches the URL you submit through a residential proxy pool and reads the HTML it gets back. It runs about 49 checks across six SEO categories. The results roll up into a scored audit with a ranked fix list.
The eight stages of analysis.
- Validate the URL: a public host, an HTTP or HTTPS scheme, and no private network target.
- Fetch through the proxy pool with browser-like headers. If a CDN blocks the request or the transport fails, we retry with a different proxy.
- Parse the HTML into a tree we can query for the title, meta tags, headings, images, links, schema, OG tags, robots directives, and more.
- Pull side signals: robots.txt, sitemap.xml, favicon, and the canonical chain.
- Add off-page data: Domain Authority, Page Rank, Spam Score, and Followed Linking Domains from our domain index.
- Fetch traffic from our keyword index: Organic Traffic and Total Keywords.
- Run the checks. Each one returns pass, warn, or fail, plus optional details such as image lists, heading outlines, and redirect chains.
- Score and rank: add up per-category scores, derive the overall score and grade, and put the highest-impact failures in the "What to fix first" list.
Six audit categories.
- Content: title, meta description, headings, body length, focus-keyword use, internal links, image alt text.
- Technical: canonical, robots directives, structured data, language, sitemap, broken links.
- Performance: response time, body size, render-blocking resources, image weight.
- Mobile: viewport meta, tap targets, font sizes, responsive markup.
- Social: Open Graph and Twitter Card meta tags, image dimensions, social previews.
- Off-page: Domain Authority, Page Rank, Followed Linking Domains, Spam Score.
Focus keyword (optional). If you add one, we check whether it appears in the title, meta description, H1, URL slug, and body. The keyword field also shows a live preview of volume, CPC, and competition from our keyword index.
Plan caps. You get 50 page fetches a day on the Free plan. This is one shared web_crawls budget for every tool here that fetches pages through the proxy. That includes the SEO Optimizer, Schema Markup Generator, Open Graph Generator, Redirect Checker, Title Length Checker, AI Summarizer, AI Grammar Checker, and Readability Checker.
Known limitations.
- One page per submission. We do not crawl your full site. For site-wide audits, a free tool like Screaming Frog (up to 500 URLs) is the right companion.
- Single-page apps. If the page draws its content with JavaScript after load, the HTML we read may be nearly empty. We show a clear notice in that case instead of scoring the empty shell.
- Time to first byte is not scored. The proxy adds 160 to 300 ms to every request, so a score would mislead. We keep it for debugging only. The real number lives in your server logs.
- CDN bot walls. Some sites behind strict firewalls (Cloudflare at maximum security, Akamai bot manager, DataDome) block residential-proxy traffic. We retry with other proxies up to a limit. If every attempt is blocked, we fail the job rather than score an error page.
What the report shows
- Overall SEO Score
- A 0 to 100 weighted average of the six category scores. The letter grade (A to F) is a friendly label for this number.
- Category circles
- One per category: Content, Technical, Performance, Mobile, Social, and Off-page. Click a circle to jump to that section's findings.
- What to fix first
- The top failures ranked by impact, which is category weight times severity. This is your to-do list for the next 30 minutes of SEO work on the page.
- Detailed findings
- Every check that ran, grouped by category and severity. Important issues come first, Optional ones below. Where there is more to see, a finding has a "details" link with an image list, heading outline, redirect chain, link list, or schema types.
- Excerpts
- Where it helps, the finding shows the actual value we found: the real title text, your meta description, the H1, the canonical URL, the OG values. That lets you confirm we read the page correctly without leaving the report.
Frequently asked questions
How do I analyze the SEO of a website?
Paste the URL above (such as https://example.com/page) and click Analyze. We fetch the page through our proxy pool and read its HTML. We then run about 49 checks across six categories: content, technical, performance, mobile, social, and off-page authority. You get a scored audit with a ranked "What to fix first" list. Add a focus keyword if you want us to check that it appears in the title, description, H1, URL, and body.
Can AI assistants do an SEO audit?
Only in part. A large language model can explain SEO and review an HTML snippet you paste in. It cannot fetch your live URL, follow redirects, read the served page, look up your backlink authority, or check that your robots.txt and sitemap work. This tool does all of that for you. Use both: this audit for the hard signal data, and an AI assistant for rewriting the content.
Can I do SEO by myself?
Yes. One person can write clear titles and descriptions, fix broken redirects, add structured data, and earn relevant backlinks. The hard part is the volume of small audits and knowing what to do first. This tool is built for that. Run it on the pages you care about, work through the "What to fix first" list in order, then re-run it to confirm the fixes stuck.
Is there a free SEO checker that actually works?
This one. There is no signup, no credit card, and the full audit runs in a few seconds. The trade-off against paid tools is breadth. We score one page per submission and do not crawl your whole site. For full-site crawls, a tool like Screaming Frog (free up to 500 URLs) is a good companion.
What does the score actually mean?
The overall score runs from 0 to 100. It is a weighted average of the six category scores, and each category score is a weighted average of its checks. Every check is graded pass, warn, or fail, and counts toward its category by severity. The letter grade (A to F) is a friendly label for the number. Two pages with the same score can have very different fix lists. The score is the summary; the per-check findings are the prescription.
Why is the score sometimes different across re-runs?
A few signals move on their own. Time to first byte changes with network conditions. Off-page authority can shift when our backlink index refreshes. Content checks pick up edits you shipped between runs. The structural checks, such as title length, H1 presence, schema markup, and canonical URL, are fixed and stay the same across re-runs of the same URL.
Why did the analysis fail or return no data?
There are three common reasons. The page is blocked by a CDN bot rule, even through a residential proxy. The page is a single-page app that draws its content with JavaScript after load, and we read the initial HTML only. Or the URL is not reachable from outside its own network. In the first two cases we show a clear error instead of scoring an empty page. In the third, check that the URL is public.
What is the difference between this tool and the SEO Optimizer?
Same engine and same checks, different output. The SEO Analyzer (this tool) gives you a scored audit with six category breakdowns and per-check findings. The SEO Optimizer turns the same data into a ranked checklist of fixes, with HTML snippets you can paste and an effort estimate per task. Pick the analyzer to see where you stand. Pick the optimizer when you want a to-do list.
