Comet is Perplexity's browser with an agent built in. It began in July 2025 for $200-a-month Max plans and went free for everyone on 2nd Oct 2025.
The iPhone release on 18th Mar 2026 completed the platform set.
Comet Plus is the publisher side. The $5-a-month plan pays publishers 80% of revenue, seeded by a $42.5 million pool.
CNN, Conde Nast, Fortune, the Los Angeles Times, the Washington Post, Le Monde and Le Figaro were launch partners.
Amazon sued in November 2025 over Comet's agent shopping on Amazon without identifying itself. On 4th Aug 2026 the Ninth Circuit vacated Amazon's injunction.
The court held that the user, not Perplexity, accesses Amazon when the agent acts on the user's orders.
